Prevence ztráty bydlení je nástrojem sociální politiky městské části Brno-sever, který při správném a včasném využití může zamezit pozdějším špatně nebo nákladně řešitelným situacím. Nejenže šetří prostředky a lidské kapacity na straně městské části, ale zároveň dokáže zabránit těžko řešitelné existenční situaci na straně klienta.
Projekt prevence ztráty bydlení a podpory bydlení je výsledkem aktivní snahy městské části Brno-sever v řešení dlouhodobého problému s neplatiči nájemného v obecních bytech. Nejenže městská část z důvodu dlouhodobé prodlevy v řešení problému přichází o finanční zdroje, ale ignorování této skutečnosti také napomáhá ke vzniku rozsáhlých sociálních problémů, a tím i vyloučených lokalit. Dalším cílem projektu je zajistit klidné soužití všech nájemníků v bytových domech, a to za pomoci poradce pro bydlení. Nedílnou součástí projektu je součinnost městské části s neziskovými organizacemi IQ Roma servis a DROM, romské středisko. Východiskem této spolupráce je obsazení čtyř pozic romských poradců, jejichž hlavní pracovní náplní bude úzká kooperace s odborem bydlení, sociálním odborem, vedením radnice, partnery projektu a s klienty projektu. Projekt je plně financován z Norských fondů a výše podpory činí 7 milionů korun.
Důvodem, proč je důležité situaci akutně řešit, je především fakt, že pokud se tito lidé ocitnou na ulici, dochází k jejich přesunu mezi jednotlivými lokalitami a nic se tím neřeší. Situace často dochází až tak daleko, že společné soužití v domě není dále možné. Problematika ztráty bydlení se v MČ Brno-sever netýká pouze romského etnika, ale všech obyvatel vyloučených lokalit, kteří se ocitnou v obdobné situaci a jsou ochotni aktivně hledat řešení. „Cílem projektu není slepá podpora chronických neplatičů a narušitelů společného soužití v jednotlivých lokalitách a konkrétních domech, ale jejich transformace v nájemníky schopné dostát svým závazkům spojeným s bydlením,“ říká o projektu radní pro sociální oblast Nikola Staňková.

Prevention of homelessness and housing support is the result of active efforts of the Brno-North district in solving a long-term issue with rent defaulters in municipal flats. Not only does the city district lose financial resources due to long-term delays in solving the issue, but ignoring this fact helps to create widespread social problems, and thus excluded areas in the district. In addition, the goal of the project is to ensure the peaceful coexistence of all tenants in apartment buildings with the help of a housing advisor. An integral part of the project is the cooperation of the city district with the non-profit organizations IQ Roma servis and DROM, a Roma center. The starting point of this cooperation is the creation of four positions of Roma advisors, whose main job will be close cooperation with the housing department, social department, town hall management, project partners and clients, who need extensive help. The project is fully funded by Norwegian funds and the amount of support is 7 million crowns.
The reason why it is important to deal with the situation early is mainly the fact that if these people find themselves on the street, they move between districts and nothing is ever solved. Also, situation often escalades and living in the municipal apartment building is no longer possible. The issue of housing loss in the Brno-north district does not only concern the Roma ethnic group, but all residents of excluded district, who find themselves in a similar situation and are willing to actively seek solutions. "The aim of the project is not the blind support of chronic defaulters and problem seekers, rather it is their transformation into tenants able to meet their housing obligations," says Nikola Staňková, councilor for social affairs in the district.
